DJ Insomnia’s Premier Sessions – NYC R&B EDITION

It’s been a very, very long time since I’ve heard a mix that had majority of  my favorite R&B songs that I used to vibe to.  DJ Insomnia’s mix brought back many, many amazing, great memories.

I love 90s R&B and I’m glad DJ Insomnia decided to put this together. He also threw in some stuff from the 2000 era as well to mix things up.  Definitely, a nice breath of fresh air from all these computer made sets I’ve been hearing lately…thanks DJ Insomnia for recording and sharing this set.

Mos Def and Talib Kweli Bringing Hip Hop Back?

I’m not sure about everyone else, but I really do miss those days when hip hop was amazing lyrically.  Hip Hop has evolved in many ways – some for the better and some for the worse (auto-tune).  There are only a few people that hasn’t sold out yet, such as Mos Def and Talib Kweli – being both in my Top 10 Rappers/Lyricists list.

The Black Star duo just released their music video, “History,” and their flow, content and hooks are just sick.

Check the video out – Let me know what you think!
